Burlap Flower Bag

I coffee dyed and embellished this little bag for a burlap flower challenge on the ning group Paper Digital Arts and Imagesbykim .  I used the Tim Holtz "Tattered Florals" die to cut the flower out of burlap and then layered it with some lace flowers, finishing it off with some twine and a little pearl.  Thanks so much for stopping by my nest and leaving such lovely comments, they always make my day.

Vintage Shadowbox

I hope everyone has had a great weekend.

I bought a divided shadowbox type tray several months ago with the intention of some day altering it.  Well, I finally had the opportunity to get this project done.  I had so much fun looking through the vintage goodies I have collected at various Thrift/Antique stores throughout the years for just the right items that would fit inside each of the compartments.  Some of the vintage items were gifts from very sweet blogging friends.

Thanks for stopping by my nest and for leaving such wonderful comments.

Altered Spoon

I recently came across an assortment of old silverware and decided I wanted to try altering one of the spoons.  I flattened the spoon end first and then added my image along with the other embellishments.  Thanks for stopping by my nest!  I enjoy reading all your comments....they really make my day!

Fabric Collage and Zipper Flower

Wanting a perfect place to keep my smartphone, I created a fabric collage on a small muslin bag. Also, I recently found an industrial size roll of white zipper trim at a Thrift store for a steal. I've been wanting to try creating a zipper flower and have seen them everywhere on the internet, so this is the first one I came up with. I sprayed Glimmer Mist on the zipper to give it a pink color and then used Fabri-Tac glue to assemble the flower. Thanks for stopping by my nest and have a great day!

Catching Up - Reposted Again!!!

I've been trying to figure out how to use Photoshop Elements to edit photos I post here on my blog, and let me say it's a challenge.

Needless to say, I was the lucky winner of a giveaway over on Marie's blog Lost Bird Studio. Here are the pics of what I was lucky enough to win:

This beautiful little bag was stuffed full of the contents you see here and that little sachet she made smells heavenly. If you haven't been to Marie's blog you really need to go and visit her. She makes the most heavenly of creations and is such a sweetie too! Thanks again Marie!!

In addition, I have always admired the lovely work that Viola of Shabby Chic Inspired creates.  So I was so pleased that she was willing to do a swap with me.  These are pictures of the beautiful fabric collage and pillow she made for me.  She also included a lovely soldered charm, fabric printed bird image, and some wonderful German text.  If you haven't been to Viola's blog you really need to go and visit her too.  She is another very talented lady and a wonderful blog friend.

I recently had the opportunity to meet the sweetest blog friend Jan of The Polka Dot Barn at the KC Willis retreat.  And because she is just such a sweet person, she sent me these goodies.  Amongst all the other things she included, she made the most adorable cards, and isn't that ledger paper just to die for?  If you get a chance, please stop over to Jan's blog and tell her Hello.

Thanks for stopping by my nest, and have a great day!

KC Willis Retreat

(Click Photo to Enlarge)

I recently had the opportunity to attend a retreat taught by KC Willis, and I must say it was amazing! Although I had taken her online Collage Camp class, I was so glad I attended the retreat because I learned so much more.  KC is an outstanding teacher and makes everyone in the class feel very special.  She gives you personal attention and tips and tricks that you can use in creating your fabric collages.  This is one of the pieces I created during the retreat.  The image is a freebie from Elizabeth at the Last Door Down the Hall Blog.  If you want to attend a KC Willis Retreat, you must do so before the end of this year, as this is her last year of teaching.  You can find the schedule of her retreats at KC Willis Studio Retreats.  Thanks for stopping by my nest and have a great day!

One World One Heart 2011

One World One Heart 2011
Welcome to the 2011 One World One Heart Event generously hosted by Lisa of A Whimsical Bohemian Blog.  The event is a worldwide event for bloggers only. It gives all those who blog a chance to meet and mingle and form connections with those they may not have otherwise met from all over the world.   This event is open to current, active bloggers who are at least 18 years of age.

My name is Robin and I reside in the great state of Texas.  I'm a mixed-media artist who enjoys creating with a vintage style.  No matter what the medium, if it's not allready old, I try to make it look old.  I can often be found out "hunting" for that unusual vintage piece to be used in a future project.  Recently I took KC Willis' collage camp and found a new love creating with fabric.  UPDATE - My "door prize" will be this fabric collage created especially for OWOH:

The rules for winning the "door prize" are as follows:

A. You must be an active blogger.

B. Leave a sincere comment.  Please take the time to get to know me and look around my blog.  Make sure there is a way for me to contact you if you should win.

C. I will randomly pick and then announce the winner on February 17, 2011.  I will be contacting the winner via email for mailing information and will post the winner here on my blog.  If for some reason, the winner does not contact me with their mailing information within 48 hours after notification, another random winner will be picked and the same procedures will be applied.

As always, thanks for stopping by my nest!
