Tutorial for using Gesso to create an Aged/Distressed Background
Not being an expert at this technique or explaining things in a tutorial...this is my attempt to share how I created the background for this tag. I took pictures as I went along to help show how this tag progressed from plain to pretty. Only I forgot to take a picture of the tag naked, but you all know what a plain manilla shipping tag looks like! Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions, just click on the contact button underneath my blog header and you will find my contact info. Also, in the post prior to this one there is an ATC I made for a monthly swap that uses the same technique for the background done on old sheet music. Thanks for stopping by my nest and I hope you will give this technique a try, it is addicting.
The step-by-step directions are in each picture so be sure to click on each one to bring up a larger version!

Thank'ee for the tutorial. I have no sense of how to do these things. That's good advice about letting the inks dry between dabbing them on the tag!
Hey Robin! Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment. I forgot to bookmark this tutorial and couldn't for the life of me remember where I saw it. Thanks again!
Robin, this tag is truly amazing. I absolutely LOVE it! Thanks for sharing how you created it.
Beautiful tag Robin!
