Altered Book

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend one day of a retreat that my online art group had last week. The day I was there we set about altering and old Readers Digest book with the theme Girlfriends. Our art group leader, Jeri, had everything to complete the book in labeled packages with instructions and example pictures so that even a novice like me could complete the project with relative ease! Thank goodness for pictures...ask my art friend Susan about that, LOL! This was my first attempt at book altering and I think I really like it! Of course we were each able to customize the book somewhat and "make it our own" as my art friend Linda would say. I just had to insert some vintage in this book so the book cover was a variation from the kit....just had to do it! Thanks for stopping by my nest!

That sure came out well! I have wondered about Altered Art books and now have a bit better of a feel for them, having seen the photos of your creation! Love that vintage photo of the 3 friends on the cover, with the doily!

That was quite a project for one day! I don't know what the cover was supposed to look like but I do like the personal touch you added with the doily and vintage print. I love those buttons on the binding, too!

Robin, your book is lovely. My favorite part is the cover with the sweet vintage image. I'd love to know how you bound the insides into the old book.
It's beautiful, thanks for sharing.

Hi Robin ~ First of all, thank you for visiting my blog today and good luck in the giveaway!

I love this book! The image of the three friends on the front inspired me. Something like this would be perfect for my two best friends. I'll have to start thinking and planning ~ it would be perfect for Christmas gifts!

Thanks for sharing it, and again thanks for your visit!~

Love your altered book! That the color palette I was going for in my book that ended up anemic looking and so went down a differnt path. I am actually working on a tutorial for making my books. I have the cover portion photographed, but wanted to nail the inside and make sure my latest technique works before I posted it. Hopefully I can get that done soon.
